Why TikTok sucks 🤷 (and what it's good for)

You should be utilizing TikTok, but not in the way you think...

Should you be on TikTok or on YouTube?!

It’s a question as old as the bromance between Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un.

To answer that question, let’s talk about…

Why TikTok sucks.

1 - Less money, more problems.

I won’t beat a dead horse… you make way more money on YouTube than you do on TikTok (up to 50x more).

2 - Goldfish fans

On TikTok, your “fans” have short attention spans. You have about 15 seconds to make an impression before your audience gets distracted by a strangely satisfying soap-cutting video.

YouTube, on the other hand, gives you the luxury of time to tell a story, build suspense, and create a connection with your viewers. Like this dingus who makes 90-minute videos talking about virtually nothing.

That means on YouTube, you get more money for brand deals and more conversions when you sell your own products.

But TikTok isn’t all bad…

In fact, it can be a powerful tool for YouTubers to expand their reach and promote their content.

For example, Mr.Beast and Emma Chamberlain both use TikTok to tease their main YouTube content (because that’s where they make the most money).

Your YT content is like a pair of Nikes…

It’s the main product that drives your revenue and ultimately your success as a creator.

On the other hand, your TikTok content is like a Nike ad featuring Serena Williams - it’s designed to grab your attention and make a splash, but its ultimate purpose is to sell more shoes (in your case, drive people to your YouTube content).

So… TikTok or YouTube?

The answer is both. But more specifically… YouTube FIRST, and then TikTok as a supplement.

Use TikTok to tease your YouTube content, but don’t give away the whole story.

TikTok might not be the perfect platform, but it can be an incredibly valuable tool if you use it correctly.
